Artist Statement

Being concerned about our natural environment, I would like to highten awareness of the natural beauty around us and the need to preserve it. My artistic vision revolves around photographing sunlight and the way it falls to create exciting patterns, shapes, textures and reflections that stimulate in a visual and emotional way.

I am currently fascinated with how light plays on, through and off transparent and translucent surfaces. Some of my images revolve around water, ice and foliage. Because the sunlight is always changing on these surfaces, I never know what I will see from one moment to the next. It requires patience as well as trial and error, but it is thrilling and rewarding when a unique image is captured.

Lastly comes the challenge of processing to create a final print that says more both visually and emotionally than the original capture. Ultimate satisfaction comes when I see others respond and interact with the final image.
